Looking to read a few Carrollton TX LA Fitness reviews before you give serious thought about signing up? Then you’ve come to the right place. You might have dropped in here directly from Google instead of our home page so here’s a quick overview of what you’re looking at here. Immediately below you’ll find an overview of the Carrollton LA Fitness itself and then at the bottom of the page you’ll find the user-written reviews. That’s probably what you’re most interested in so feel free to skip to the bottom now and see what others are saying about this gym.
If you want to stay for the tour, then welcome aboard. It’s going to be quick. What you find at LA Fitness Carrollton TX is a gym where “more” is the defining word. More space. More treadmills. More free weights. More classes. More weight machines. In general, you find that being a member of an LA Fitness gym gives you more options.
Combine that with the fact that the monthly investment is pretty small, it goes without saying that the company provides all members with a good value. Sure there may be differences here and there on joining fees and such, but nobody can say that you don’t get your money’s worth at a gym like LA Fitness Carrollton.
The gym is built around three core fitness zones. First, and most popular, is the cardiovascular training center. This part of the gym is loaded with cardio machines of all types that will boost your overall performance and fitness to the next level. Next we find the strength training zone. This area of the gym is evenly divided into the free weight area and the selectable machine circuit space. Both have their advantages and disadvantages but it’s best to do some research and figure out what type of strength routine you want to do. Finally you have the Group Exercise studio. Group classes are included free to Carrollton TX LA Fitness members, so these classes are large, full of energy, and constitute a lot of the appeal that this gym has to those who utilize classes as a cornerstone of their fitness regimen.
As is the case with most LA Fitness locations, the Carrollton club has a basketball court and racquetball court as well as a pool for swimming laps in addition to the core training areas. These extra options bring in a wider variety of people and offer a wider variety of exercise options which helps to avoid the boredom burnout that is so prevalent across the fitness club landscape of America. Last of all we have to mention the premium features such as upgraded locker rooms, dry-heat sauna, whirlpool, and child watch area which round out the club’s list of amenities.
The reviews of the Carrollton TX LA Fitness center found below are mostly written by members who share from their personal experience how well (or poorly) the club is operated. It’s a good idea to visit the gym yourself and get a free day-pass instead of just relying on what you read here. Be sure to come back and write about your experience at this gym, even if you don’t join, as others would be glad to have the knowledge you have but can’t benefit from it unless you take a few minutes to share what you know.

I was a member here a couple of years ago. I am a senior and in good shape for my age. Cycle classes and swimming were my main activity. Didn’t have much interaction with anyone but the cylce instructors who were GREAT!!!! Other than that I didn’t need any assistance with anything else. I don’t need to lose weight. Thought about joining again. Discussed membership with a big guy who never smiled as we discussed anew membership. Was acutally going to receive membership paid for by family member. Decided to continue running, cycling and swimming, summer only, outdoors. Have my own weights.
Who is this John Michael guy?
The place is pretty dirty and the staff is just creepy. They are pushy, annoying, and are some of the most apathetic people I’ve ever seen. You can tell they don’t get paid much because they just don’t care! The trainers are not very educated and they spend most of their time flirting with their young clients. They don’t even attempt to dress professionally and it really takes away from the atmosphere. The machines are not the best quality and are often broken for days. I would recommend if you can’t find anything better.
I think I am going to have to agree with Kim and say that there is something fishy about the reviews written by Jerome, Caroline, and Tammy. I just joined and have been thoroughly impressed with LA Fitness. Everyone has been very friendly and made me feel very comfortable despite the fact that I happen to look ridiculous while exercising. John Michael actually greeted me at the front desk one day and was extremely friendly, polite, and personable and has been to me ever since. As far as him saying the ” n word”, I have a hard time believing that he would say that considering there are several African Americans who work there and I have noticed him always being respectful to them.
Anyway, I really like it there and have not had any problems.
I have been really impressed by LA fitness. Most of the time I go to LA fitness in Carrollton but I also go to a few others. They are all great. The staff at the Carrollton location has always impressed me. They are all very kind and helpful. I am now getting family and friends to join! Thanks for running a great facility!
This is in response to the reviews by Tammy, Caroline, and Jerome.
I am wondering if this is a conspiracy by three persons who may have taken a dislike to an employee and agreed to defamed that person with bad reviews borderline on slandering.
While I appreciate the power of reviews offered by consumers on the honesty, integrity, or philosophy of a business, but when a review turn to slanders or/and personal attack on an employee, and causing damage to a person ‘s reputation, I have to question the motive. After reading the reviews from Tammy and Caroline and Jerome (whom I assume to be friends since it was written so close together.) I could make up a story about a girl being scorned by a guy and getting even .
I have been going to this location since it has opened and though I do not know any employee on a personal level, they have always been kind , courteous , cheerful, and respectful of my space. It amazes me how hard they work to keep the place clean and neat. I have no complaint about this location because I have been to other locations and see the differences.
There are power in words, which is why reviews are so important, but when words are used to be spiteful and cause irreversible damage for personal gain, it should be seen as a personal attack and not an actual review on the establishment.
In response to Jerome use of the word “nigger”,it is a hard pill to swallow that in today’s politically sensitive time , that an educated person working with the public, would actually call you that to your face .
Regarding Caroline stating that she joined in Feb. and since leaving the gym she has gained 20 pounds….the review was written in March 9…If you gained 20 pounds in one month, I seriously think you may have a health and mental issue in addition to the weight .
And Tammy, maybe your membership was only good for one location.
It saddens me that anyone can write what they feel about someone in the guise
of a review when it’s more about getting even.
I wish I would have read these reviews before I signed up, my name is Tammy and I too had a problem with that bald guy John Micheal. I am in my late forties and I was all excited because I was finally gonna get to a healthier me. When I signed up they were very positive for me but that all changed when I showed up for my first workout. I walked in and noone was sitting at the front so I checked myself in and after I move to the workout floor this bald guy came running up to me and demeanded my memebership card telling me that I didn’t belong in his gym, as I was reaching for my card I said excuse me with disgust. He told me I was to old to be in his gym. Only young hott girls are aloud in here, I was so hurt I left. Before I did I asked someone who that guy was. They said his name was John Micheal. Before I left I heard him say to one of his friends that this is how you get rid of the old out of shape women in here. I hope women read this and don’t go there unless you are 20 and like 105 lbs, otherwise you are going to end up with wounds that cut too deep to heal.
I don’t like this gym because apparently they “don’t like niggers”. I had a problem, I spoke to John Michael (manager) and gave him my number to call me back, and John Michael never did. I saw John in the gym the other day and ask why he never called me back for the problem I had and John Michael told me that he doesn’t like niggers. I was speechless and as John was smiling I told him that’s ok but that doesn’t take care of my problem and ask to speak to John’s boss and John Michael told me that his boss doesn’t like nigger’s as well. I will never go back their again and I will be calling the NAACP and the BBB. There are plenty of other gyms near me which I’m sure treat people better.
I signed up to La Fitness because I need to lose weight and get in shape and doctors’ orders. I signed up in Feb. and started my workout, cardio and I noticed a trainer looking at me and laughing and pointing me out to his friend, and they both started laughing. I went up to him and asked him what was so funny and he said that there is no hope for me, I was devastated by his remarks and ask for his name and he told me his name was John Michael, manager/trainer and I asked him why he was so mean to say what he said to me and John Michael told me that he hates seeing overweight people in his gym and said everyone should be in shape like him. I called him a few choice words and left because I was very embarrassed and felt really bad about myself and cried all the way home. If our overweight don’t go to La Fitness in Carrollton because John Michael will make you feel like killing yourself, I guess John Michael got his wish with me. Since then I had gain another 20lbs and feel horrible, people like John Michael should be in charge of a fitness place and making overweight people feel the way he did me. AVOID THIS GYM, UNLESS YOU WANNA FEEL LIKE I DID WHEN JOHN MICHEAL DID WHAT HE DID TO ME
“In showing good faith, if somebody comes in that’s a lifetime member at the Bally facilities that we acquired, our intention is to, in spirit, honor that agreement,” Norris says.
LA fitness knew of all members as so did Bally’s while they were selling out. The economic function was to erase lifetime memberships. LA fitness needs to allow those members into the clubs as set in their original agreement or Bally’s needs to be sued to allow those members lifetime memberships at LAF prices. This is shady biz and the Feds need to do something about it. I want my original access back; Bally’s has shut down emails/ member access online and LAf will not allow email contact. Hmmm hello?
