This gym fits well in the LA Fitness club paradigm. It has the major strength and conditioning zones as well as a full array of group exercise classes spread throughout the week, high-end amenities, and a basketball court. One of the typical elements missing at this gym which is typically found in most LA Fitness locations is the racquetball court, but that’s pretty much the only thing not integrated into this gym.
LA Fitness is known for creating an environment where the entire family can congregate at once and the East Irvine, CA location is no exception. The gym features the well-received Kids Klub child watch center which is staffed with pre-screened and certified child care personnel. Kids are constantly challenged and stimulated in an environment that encourages physical activity. Bight colors, good friends, and lots to do help children associate going to the gym as something to be desired early on in life. Mom and Dad see a more acute benefit, though, in that they can come to the gym consistently without the excuse that they just can’t make it because there’s nobody to watch the baby.
Once Junior is in safe hands, members can head into the core LA Fitness training zones in order to strengthen and tone their physiques. Choose from selectable Nautilus-style isolation machines which are setup in a traditional full-body workout circuit or hit the free-weight area in order to do heavy squats, presses, and deadlifts. Either choice will help build strength and metabolism-boosting lean muscle.
Cardio options include a wide array of treadmills and elliptical machines as well as a few rowing stations and stairmasters. Those who like the thrill of the dynamic only found in a group exercise setting will be glad to know that classes are included in the membership free, so anyone wanting to burn more calories in a pumped-up class setting can do so without worrying about investing more than they already do in their monthly membership fee.

Don’t bother getting attached to a personal trainer. Huge turnover in training staff.
I’ve given the Irvine CA LA Fitness straight 3′s across the board. The gym is close enough to where I live but I think that there’s a universal consensus among those who work out here that the place is too small. It just gets too crowded in here. Pretty much every day. And not just during the “peak” hours either.
The staff shows up and does their job but they’re not friendly like at some gyms and that detracts from the overall “feel” of the gym. It’s like they only care about getting the next task done so they can sit down or something.
I’m thinking of joining one of the new 24 Hour Fitness locations that just opened up in the area, but I’m scare that we’ll get bad service there too.
If the people in charge of this gym chain are reading this, send someone down from headquarters to the Irvine, CA LA Fitness location and take a good look at what you’re allowing to go on within your company instead of hiding in your board rooms wasting your time studying profit-n-loss projections.

Most people, regardless of whether or not they can afford it, need to get a personal trainer. It’s just a fact. The personal training staff at this LA Fitness come across as really competent and sincere in their desire to help you get into the best shape of your life. Chantel trains me, and I think she’s the best, but I’ve never felt like I’m “just a number” when talking to any of the trainers. This is not the case in other gyms I’ve been at where the trainers seem to think that you either need to be training with them, talking about signing up to train with them, or moving along you merry way so you don’t bother them while they think about training someone else. The professionalism is a breath of fresh air.
Like I said before, the other members are really courteous. They re-rack their weights, put away their dumbbells, and (this is a pet peeve of mine) don’t do curls in the squat rack! The circuit training machine are almost never down and the same goes for the cardio gear.
I don’t have any kids but my sister does and she raves about how well her 3 and 4 year olds like the Kids Klub thing. Whoever thought this up is a genius because my sister has not been consistent in hitting the gym since her first little one came along. Before that she was VERY active and I could tell that not improving herself was wearing on her. Now that she can just drop the kids off and go she’s at this gym at least 3 times p/week. Thank you LA Fitness for the little stuff like this!
I really could go on and on about how great the East Irvine, CA LA Fitness is but I think you get the point and you’re probably looking to get someone else’s opinion right about now. All I can say is to give the place a try. Unless you live so far away that there’s no way you’ll be consistent, I can’t see why you wouldn’t succeed in achieving your goals at this gym.
