Whether or not you're new to the Houston gyms in the area, if you're thinking about signing up as a member at LA Fitness Pearland, then you are probably wondering if it's a good place to work out or not. There area lot of Houston gyms gyms which you can join, so don't settle for one because it has the best marketing or is a little bit closer to you. Instead, do some research by reading reviews so that you can be sure you'll be happy at the gym you sign up with. Most TX gyms are going to be very different from the typical LA Fitness club. Most of these gyms are very large and the Pearland LA Fitness is no exception to this rule. Of course, it's never a good idea to make a judgement call on whether a business is good or not simply based on size. Smaller gyms can (and often do) get higher ratings than super-clubs such as this. Not only is the size of the club deceptive, but if you take a tour of the gym you're most likely to get a one-sided impression of the place. The LA Fitness team member who is trying to get you to sign up certainly isn't going to tell you about the faults that you're likely to find at LA Fitness Pearland which is why it's best to read reviews in advance before committing to this gym or any other.
Most LA Fitness locations are going to be built on one of two platforms. Half of the gyms built by LA Fitness are stand-alone facilities built from the ground-up on a very successful architectural design. Recently, though, as the company has looked for ways to expand it has mastered the art of utilizing heavy modification of retail space so that at least half of all the clubs being built today are being worked into the master plans for new shopping centers. The company followed the stand-alone model when building LA Fitness Pearland and it gets all the benefits associated with that design. The different fitness zones found in the stand-alone clubs are usually found in the shopping center LA Fitness clubs, but that's not always the case.
So much for the intro, here's what you'll find at this gym:
Strength Training - a lot can be said about getting strong and, unfortunately, most of it isn't being said. Plain and simple, most people who exercise are doing way too much cardio and not enough strength work. Lifting heavy weight has proven time and time again to yield better results faster than exercise programs which leave weight training out. Muscle increases the body's overall metabolic rate. Consider the fact that once your cardio training session is over, your ability to burn extra calories essentially disappears within 30 minutes. This isn't the case with the person who builds muscle through strength training. Even while sleeping your lean muscle mass keeps burning calories. It's not a mistake to say that pretty much everyone should make building strength their primary goal to which they devote most of their gym time if they are looking to "lose weight" or "get in shape". Two strength training zones are found at LA Fitness Pearland for this purpose.
The first is a complete line of circuit training machines. Each machine targets a specific muscle group and are arranged in the form of "stations" which you utilize one after another. The result is a full-body workout that can be performed in a very short period of time. If you see someone who's muscles are only "big" in the areas that can be seen in the mirror, then they probably are using free weights in a haphazard way instead of using machines in a circuit. Failure to train all muscle groups is the most common mistake people make in the gym after over exposing the body to chronic cardio training. Whether it's Pearland LA Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness, or any other Houston area gym, you'll see guys hitting the bench press and doing high-rep sets of curls far more than you see them doing deep back squats, deadlifts, and other lower-body or full-body exercises. Since the machines at LA Fitness Pearland are so easy to use and they do afford a workout that hits every muscle group, there's no reason why anyone who joins up here should develop bad training habits which will result in stronger and weaker areas of the body.
The ease of use is probably the number one reason why people tend to gravitate to machines instead of free weights. Anyone who has spent years lifting weights, though, is likely to get to a point where they realize that free weights are a better approach to strength training overall. Why is it that the body does better when trained as a whole instead of being isolated into it's component parts? Because the body is a unit and is built to perform as a unit. It follows, then, that the body performs better when trained as a whole. You'd be hard pressed to find a strength training routine that can outperform full-body movements performed with a weighted barbell. Working out with free weights can be tricky because it does require an investment of time and money to get someone to train you on how to perform the movements properly, but other than that, there are few downsides to going with free weights vs. machines.
Sauna & Whirlpool - at the end of a hard, stressful day a lot of people resort to having a drink to take the edge off things. What they really should be doing is de-stressing by stopping by the gym on the way home and sitting in the sauna for a bit. Being a member at the Pearland LA Fitness means you have access to either one and can use them at your leisure before, after, or in place of your typical workout. If you stop in for a visit and are too busy to pay attention to the details about the sauna it's important to remember that there is not a separate sauna for men and women but each share one. This can be a sticky point for some but it doesn't seem to be a make-or-break issue so LA Fitness continues to build gyms with only one. There is also only one hot tub for both men and women. As can be expected, some members don't feel comfortable utilizing these club features because of the co-ed setup, but it's hasn't seemed to be a major obstacle up to this point.
Group Classes - if you read a number of reviews on this site, not just about LA Fitness Pearland but of LA Fitness Sugarland or LA Fitness Greenway, you'll find that people will complain a lot. It seems that people who love their gym don't come to sites like this as much while those who need to give testimony of how poorly they've been treated do. In spite of this marked trend, people very rarely have bad things to say about the group exercise classes. While most of the classes at LA Fitness Pearland are well received, be sure to read the reviews below to see which ones are considered favorites. The free day-pass offered by LA Fitness includes access to the classes so you can give one a try if you stop in for a visit. It's a good idea to check the LA Fitness Pearland class schedule before you stop in for a tour so you can be sure that you drop in on a day when the class you are most interested in is being held.
Personal Trainers - one of the biggest complains that people have when joining a gym is that they feel they do a lot but don't see any appreciable results. Personal trainers who work at LA Fitness Pearland see this type of pattern over and over again among gym members who try to "go it alone" and end up despondent eventually quitting. The truth is that most people don't have the slightest idea of what they need to do to get in shape. People start working out but can't figure out whether strength training or cardio needs to be their primary focus. How fast should they run? How heavy should they lift? How heavy is too heavy? Having access to an LA Fitness personal trainer means that any questions like these that you might come up with over time can be answered by someone competent. Will you have to drop some extra coin to have access to this expertise? Yes. It's unfortunately true that most people who eventually fail to reach their goals and end up quitting could have realized success if they had someone there to help them.
Premium Layout - most people who leave another gym and come to LA Fitness comment on how nicely appointed the clubs are. Clean and modern is the name of the game at LA Fitness Pearland. This includes the big area like locker rooms, workout zones, and pool deck but it also encompasses areas like the parking lot and the entry way. There is no guarantee that the senior club manager who is the key reason why a club is run so well and looks so nice won't be moved to a different gym with his or her replacement failing to carry on their tradition of excellence. A poor manager who doesn't keep the place clean can also be replaced by someone who does. Because of this, it's a good idea to read the reviews below and see how things have been going in recent months.
Regulation Basketball Court - few people play basketball once they are grown. Basketball is a team sport and requires access both to a place to play and other people to play with. Being a member at LA Fitness Pearland indicates that you have something in common with the others members and so people actually get together and play basketball all the time. It's a nice little bonus that most members at LA Fitness Pearland take for granted.
Kid's Club Child Watch - those who don't have children don't understand how essential having an on-site child care center at the gym is for those who do. Parents are able to drop their little ones off and work out every day of the week. It seems to have been an idea that has won out in the end because LA Fitness membership rolls swelled once this options was made available pretty much across the board at all their gyms. Grandma might watch the little ones one time a week or so in order that mom and dad can go out and do something, but every day or every other day so they can go to the gym? Not happening. Having Kid's Klub at LA Fitness Pearland changes everything.
Cardiovascular Training Area - heart disease continues to be the #1 killer in America. Getting a proper amount of exercise which focuses on increasing your heart rate and improving its performance needs to be central focus of anyone's gym routine. At LA Fitness Pearland, you'll find a wide array of cadio equipment which you can take advantage of in order to give your heart the intense exercise that it needs. Lowered blood pressure, lower stress levels, and improved blood lipid profiles are all benefits of consistently putting in cardio-focused workouts. You'll notice that there's a good number of machines at LA Fitness Pearland. This means that wait times (if any) are pretty low compared to some other gyms.
Racquetball Courts - if you want to experience a challenge that is sure to get your heart pumping and your blood racing, then try racquetball. Looks can be deceiving and that's definitely the case with this game. One of the great things about racquetball is that it's easy to learn but you can spend years honing your game. Ask around and you're sure to find members who are racquetball addicts are willing to show you how to play the game for free.
Many choices are available to LA Fitness Pearland members. Many people will agree that more isn't necessarily better. Sometimes having more of something – more options, were availability, only results in having more confusion. Those who are interested in training for elite sports may find that this gym does not suit their specialized needs. In such situations it might be best to go with a gym that does not offer as much variety but does focus in on the training area you're most interested in. A lot of people feel that the pricing of a typical membership at this health club is very competitive. Memberships are typically all-inclusive with the exception of child care and access to other area LA Fitness clubs. These can be included as upgrades at additional cost.
