Having been a member of LA Fitness for several years and then moving out of the area, the thing I will remember is what a bunch of garbage they put you through when you try to cancel your membership. It is an o.k. gym, but suggest you look for something with local policies rather than a national corporation.
Great gym, Great fitness club and it’s bigger than I thought. It’s really clean and has lots of equipment so I can actually have a workout instead of wasting time waiting for each piece I want to use. I love all the classes especially spinning, & core. I lost all my baby weight with their cardio and core program, it was so easy and the staff were really helpful and motivating. I would recommend this gym to anyone looking to get started on a fitness program, they make it really easy for beginners like me!
I’ve been trying to get my abs in shape for a long time, and I’m happy to say that progress is coming along very well thanks to my personal trainer. The personal training staff at other gyms near me were nowhere near as professional as you’ll find here. Sadly the other location is much more convenient for me! Well well, what can I do anyway? Distance-wide this location is not bad so I will just have to live with it.
The classes definitely hit capacity and I’m always thankful I get there early to get a prime spot. The instructor is motivating if a bit overly cheerful but she lead the class easily through an hour of moderate weight lifting. I’m I like her attitude and moxy to be honest. I also love kickboxing and Zumba.
The classes that are here seem really intense. I guess they’re probably fun but a lot of them clash with my schedule and I’ve not been able to try many. I wish they would have them at 4:30 on alternate days.
One thing that really is a disappointment is the fact that people leave here frequently. Not just the front desk people either. Personal trainers. That’s gotta suck for the members who get pushed to a different trainer a few weeks after they begin their sessions. Based on what I’ve seen as a member of other gyms near me, I think that this might be typical in the health club industry. I’m sure we can all find something to complain about, right? That doesn’t mean that this gym isn’t a great place to work out – because it is.
Early in the morning is when I work out. Always have. That means that my experience here is pretty much limited and I can’t speak about what goes on when things get busy. Now that I think about it, there are a lot of people that go here, but I wouldn’t say that the place is swelled to bursting. It seems like the gym is big enough to accommodate everyone. It might just be me, but I really don’t see a lot of people failing to clean up after themselves, acting in a rude manner to the staff or other members, or being a general pain in the ass. This was the case over at my last gym and I’m glad that not all gyms are like that. I’m always grateful if I do happen to come in late in the day and find the locker rooms clean. This area tends to slack when things get busy but that’s not a big issue here. There actually seems to be a small army of people going around and keeping this place clean. I can’t imagine enjoying a job as a cleaning person, but the people here seem to really be cheerful as they go about their daily tasks.
People will say that because of how much I like LA Fitness West Oak I must be some type of super-optimist or something. I’m really not. I’m pretty sure that there are some things about this place that have ticked me off in the past and I just can’t think of them right now. That, in and of itself, is a good sign that this gym has its shit together. I’m not going to say much more on that. I’m sure you know what you need to do, now just go out and do it..
I could not find the Highland Village location, but it is actually a POOR COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!! My wife purchased 1 year of 8 one-half hour personal training sessions on a 1 year contract. At the rate of $320/ mo. THAT IS $80 PER HOUR!!!!!!!!! Little of which actually goes to the trainers. I went through 4 PTs in 3 months! The first one was concientious, but left for another gym. The second one just made stuff up as he went along, the third was pretty good, but could not talk to his supervisor and left, the next one just did not show upup for my second session. I finally gave up on PTs. When my year was over, THEY CONTINUED TO DEBIT MY CREDIT CARD!!!!!! They said I knew about it. BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT GO TO ANY la fitness!!!!!!
