LA Fitness Livonia MI

3 Reviews

While LA Fitness has had a foothold in Michigan for a number of years, they built only one of their world-class fitness facilities in Wayne County, and that is their Livonia location. This gym is conveniently located just south of I-96 and within a few minutes of the I-275/I-96 junction. It offers the full range of services which LA Fitness is known for.

Strength training can be maximized in either the Free Weight area or by getting in a full body circuit training workout via the Selectech isolation machines. The Cardiovascular Training area comes complete with a full phalanx of machines including state-of-the-art treadmills, rowing machines, stair climbers, and elliptical machines. As with all LA Fitness locations, the staff works hard to make sure that each of these areas is kept clean and organized. Read some reviews below to see how well they accomplish these two goals.

The Livonia, MI LA Fitness offers a full compliment of classes lead by energy-charged, fully trained instructors. Classes include Yoga, Aqua Fit, Mat Pilates, Cycling, and Kickbox Cardio and more. While not every class is offered every day, at least of few are offered each day of the week including weekends.

You’ll find a lane divided swimming pool, basketball court, and racquetball courts here as well. The LA Fitness of Livonia makes time available for both league play and pickup games. Running and cycling enthusiasts can sign up for to join groups who take part in these sports together as well.

From the North – If local, take any of the major North/South roads such as Farmington, Inkster, Merriman, or Middlebelt South to Plymouth Rd. The gym is on Plymouth between Merriman and Middlebelt so those coming down Levan, Farmington, or Merriman will make a Left turn onto Plymouth and head east until arriving at the gym. Alternatively, those taking Middlebelt, Inkster, or Beech Daly will need to turn right onto Plymouth and head West in order to get there. Those coming South down I-275 will need to merget onto I-96 East and take that to Exit 175 (Merriman Rd) onto which you’ll turn right and then proceed as outlined above.

From the South – Coming from the South on local roads is pretty much the same had coming from the North. Take either Levan, Farmington, Merriman, Middlebelt, Inkster, or Beech Daly roads North until reaching Plymouth. LA Fitness of Livonia is located between Middlebelt and Merriman and so you’ll need to turn either right or left depending on which road your on. Click on the map above in order to get turn-by-turn directions if this is at all confusing.

From the East - If coming from the East, the easiest way to get to the gym is to simply take the I-96 expressway to either the Merriman or Middlebelt exits and then head south on those streets. The gym is located between these two roads so it’s pretty easy to get there once you reach Plymouth Rd. Locals should just hop on Plymouth Rd. and head west until they reach the club.

From the West - Again, the easiest way to get to the Livonia LA Fitness from the West is to take the I-96 freeway to the Middlebelt exit, make a right turn on that road and head south to Plymouth onto which you’ll make a left turn and quickly arrive at your destination.

LA Fitness does poor business. It is extremely difficult to cancel a membership. I called and was told I had to go in to the gym. I went in and was told I had to mail a form. I mailed the form and was told I should have done it by certified or registered mail. When they finally cancelled the membership they called it a curtosy and I am still waiting a refund for the months they charged during the process. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BANK INFORMATION

Enjoying my experience at LA fitness,Livonia, after switching from Bally in Novi, MI. This place is cleaner, roomier, younger people around, even in the afternoon.

This is really a great place to work out. Pretty much anything you need to get in shape, they have. Easy to get too as well, but of course, that’s just me and your mileage may vary.

I like the fact that you get a kind of view from the second floor in the cardio area. I spend a lot of time there and some gyms seem to have their cardio equipment stashed away in some cloistered hole in the wall. Dunno why. Another thing I like is the fact that there’s a good number of machines, so unless you come during the peek after work hours, you can usually workout without feeling like you are holding someone else up. Also, even though there are enough machines to go around, I don’t feel like they’re bunched up together so much that you feel squished by other people.

The gym itself seems to be kept pretty clean (quite a bit cleaner than other gyms near me) and I don’t ever remember seeing a machine out of commission. Broken equipment isn’t so bad if it’s just a treadmill but when one of the circuit training machines goes down it can throw off anyone’s “whole body workout” groove.

The price is great for what you get. There’s a fair amount of sales pressure but just blow that off and do your thing. Avoid people who just want to charge you fees, plan your work and work your plan and you’ll see consistent results. I don’t think most people need a personal trainer, they need a food Nazi to help them avoid eating trash. Diet is 90% of the success…not the type of exercise you do.
