After being a member of 24 Hour Fitness for a number of years (and a satisfied member too) I finally found the courage to leave for someplace else. Not because this Long Beach LA Fitness is so much better either. Both gyms have good equipment, good facilities, good parking, and good people working there. Both have generally clean locker rooms and both are close enough to where I live that I know I’ll show up at least 3 to 4 times per week. So what caused me to make the change from one gym to another? I’ll tell you. It’s because... Read More

But the benefits of joining an LA Fitness club don’t end there. This gym also brings a number of other things into the mix in order to keep things different as you pursue a patter of life-long fitness training which will serve to extend the time you have on this planet as well as enrich it. Things like league play on the full-length basketball court provides a great alternative workout and stimulates the body and mind with a sense of competition. Pickup game times are penciled into the schedule so that even those with schedules that vary to much to commit to a league can still get onto the court at times. The place also has racquetball courts which serve a similar purpose.

A perennial favorite at the Long Beach, CA LA Fitness is the wide selection of group exercise classes. For now these classes come free with your membership which is one of the reasons why people choose to go with this gym instead of a 24 Hour Fitness club instead. If you like classes and participate consistently then you’ll get a lot of value out of your membership at a gym like this.

It’s important to remember that not all training programs are created equal. In general, you’ll get more bang for your buck by training with heavy free weights utilizing the major strength-building exercises. These include compound pressing movements such as the squat and bench press as well as pulling movements such as the deadlift and pull-ups. Properly executing these movements is a bit technical though and doing them properly with good form is key as you need to go very close to your max weight in order to reap the most gains. This is why LA Fitness employs a group of competent personal trainers which can help you gain the knowledge you need in order to pursue the right set of exercises to get you from where you are to where you need to be.

Reviews of the Long Beach CA LA Fitness center can be found below. Newest reviews are at the top with older ones further down the page. You can see how a club has been progressing over time by reading them all but pay special attention to the newer reviews as they will give you the most accurate picture of what’s going on at the club right now. Be sure to visit the gym yourself as it’s of key importance to get a first-hand impression of how a club is operated and not try to make your decisions based on online reviews alone.

The restrooms on friday evening, saturday and sunday are horrible. There is NO cleaning staff on those days. Your better off going to the local gas station. The equipment is ancient and the carpet is nasty.

    LA FITNES CHICAGO STINK!
In Chicago, they take it Bally (where the pass for a month was aprox. 15$). When I was after 1 dec. 2011, now is LA Fitness, an arrogant guy tell me minimum is 75, just for a month. The atitude was like he was the general manager and i was there for cleaning the pool, even my wath was like his sallary in a month. When I was with a friend for talking again, the same response, even I had received an brochure from LA fitness “Come to us for just 13,99 for month”. I was again with another friend and hwo resolve the problem after 20 mins. negociations, without contract, with 30$/month, when I’m interested just for pool, because I have home gym. A short and fat assian girl(more arogant than first guy), has tried to lied me that I must put 2 coins in the big locker, for use it. Not was like that but much worse. So, you put the objects inside, and close the loker. Go to at gym and after, you want to use the pool. So you must put another quarter, for taking thongs, swim equipement and others. After the pool you must go to the shower. Get the soap, shampoo, towel and others and put another quarter. If you want to take something when you are there, easily spend a dollar in each day. That arrogant asian girl stayed in front of me like at bar and talk to oters when I spoked with her. So, Bally was worse, but LA Fitness is more then that!

I belong to the club in Lancaster, pa and for the most part am quite happy with this place. But I do have one complaint. I do not feel it is fair that some on the staff leave a bunch of guys without passes or memberships in to play basketball for free. When others on the staff try to enforce the rules these guys get all pissed, curse and intimidate there way in. These guys get free showers too… why is this allowed to go on and on?

After being a member of 24 Hour Fitness for a number of years (and a satisfied member too) I finally found the courage to leave for someplace else. Not because this Long Beach LA Fitness is so much better either. Both gyms have good equipment, good facilities, good parking, and good people working there. Both have generally clean locker rooms and both are close enough to where I live that I know I’ll show up at least 3 to 4 times per week. So what caused me to make the change from one gym to another? I’ll tell you. It’s because of the racquetball courts.

I’d never played racquetball before but my friend Jen told me that she recently started playing and that it was a blast. She went on and on about it while we were out shopping one day. Kept talking about how you get a killer workout in at the same time you are enjoying the game and stuff. I’d not seen her so excited about something so much since a guy she had a major crush on for 3 years asked her to the prom senior year. Her enthusiasm made me feel like I might be missing out on something. I was right.

I stopped in with Jen at the Long Beach LA Fitness because she had a membership there and I was able to get in on a one-day free pass. She explained the rules to me and we played a few rounds. It really was a lot of fun and I was heaving for air at the end like you wouldn’t believe. I thought they must be pumping the oxygen out of the courts because I was just so winded. That never happens to me when I run on the treadmills at 24 Hour Fitness.

After we got done playing I decided to take a tour as I didn’t think I should make a switch based on the racquetball alone. I was really glad to find out that the place had everything that my old gym did and more. I didn’t have to feel like I was missing out by switching in any way. Nice.

My contract with 24 Hour Fitness was up about a month later and I didn’t renew. Instead, I switched to this gym. I’ve been really happy. The people who work here are great and the place is never unclean or anything.

I will say that a few months into things I did find that this place wasn’t perfect. See I had signed up for the option where I could go to any of the LA Fitness gyms in the area. I work as a Realtor and tend to be out and about and wanted the option to stop at any of the local LAF gyms in order to put in a quick workout. I just kept a back of workout clothes in my trunk and was always ready to go. Anyway, I had to go a bit further from home for something (don’t remember why) and ended up stopping at the Santa Clarita LA Fitness. I learned then that the equipment at our gym was a bit run down and could really use an upgrade. I guess I have a case of treadmill envy. Anyway…that’s the only downside to being a member here and as soon as they put in new stuff even that will go away.

There’s really not anything else I have to say about the place that I can think of off the top of my head. Nice place, nice people. You can really get in shape if you actually show up and do some exercises. A lot of people putz around and they never seem to change at all. Seems like a waste of money to join a gym and then never get any results if you ask me. Oh well, you can lead a horse to water and all that. They certainly can’t say that they don’t have the resources to get in tip-top shape as a member of the Long Beach, CA LA Fitness, but each one has to live their own life as they see best.
