The club itself has massive curb appeal. As long as what is found on the inside mimics what is found on the outside, you’re pretty much good-to-go on joining as long as the gym culture matches what your looking for. So what do you get when joining as a member of this LA Fitness club?
First of all, you get all of your major training areas covered. When it all boils down, fitness pretty much adds up to two major things. How strong you are and how well your body can process oxygen when doing intense things such as running, swimming, or cross country skiing. Sure, there are other factors such as flexibility and coordination, but they are not as important as strength and cardio when length and quality of life are concerned.
Three major training areas are found on-site at the Mckinney, TX LA Fitness center in order to address these core needs. Strength training can be tackled in either the free weight zone of by hitting the scientifically designed circuit training machines. Cardiovascular conditioning is accomplished by offering members a wide array of treadmill machines and ellipticals. Group exercise classes are also offered which not only turn cardio performance but provide enhancement to flexibility, coordination, and balance skill sets.
Despite the fact that this gym is busy (perhaps even over-busy) I have to say that I’m a fan of this LA Fitness club. Add together the facts that the gym has plenty of cardio machines, good strength training equipment, and a nice team of people who staff the place, and you can see that things are starting off on the right foot. I like to spend most of my time... Read More
This club, like most LA Fitness locations, offers the opportunity to compete in both basketball and racquetball leagues. Pick-up play is also generously penciled into the overall schedule. A temperature controlled indoor swimming pool is also on site so that members can take a different approach to fitness as they feel the need to add in some variety arises.
The gym features the award-winning LA Fitness Kids Klub child watch program. Kids are kept actively engaged in leaning games and also have time to exercise without knowing it by clamoring around the indoor playscape. Other convenient features include spa, sauna, and juice bar.

Why can’t you just find out about a membership without submitting to a 3rd- degree, high-pressure, coercive pitch? If the place is clean, in good condition, friendly, has hours that match mine, and is at a reasonable price, I’ll join. I don’t need to be manipulated. I went elsewhere.
I have been working out for years, these are my findings on this location; overall makes a decent impact, facilities appear superior, equipment seems to break down often and stay that way for weeks at times, seems to me a repair should be done ASAP, but for sure it takes at least several days, parking is good and convenient, cleanliness is a big deal to me with so many people do so much, and often the sanitizer is out, and the towels are out. They should offer a sanitizer spray bottle at multiple stations to allow those who care to clean the machines when done, but they do not and as I said, sanitizers in pump bottles are out often. Lastly, staff seems friendly, but manager is a bald headed guy about 4 foot nothing who seems to have the Napoleonic attitude. Only had one occasion to have a conflict with him in over a year, but he was not helpful or supportive, but almost belligerent. Also, not to be prejudice, but how can you give value to employees in a health club/gym that are grossly out of shape,……………that is gross!
Wife’s care was broken into. Crime is rampant and systemic on property according to McKinney police. When you calculate price, make sure you calculate the price of your deductible to get your car window or locks repaired after a break in. Per McKinney policy, LA fitness is uncooperative with their efforts to resolve issues.
Unlike many gyms near me the staff is friendly and the equipment is nice and usually pretty clean.
The training sessions are very expensive (Im sure it is at all other gyms as well) Seems like a great deal of money to pay for only 30 minutes, but if you really need someone to push you to work out, then it may be worth it.
The kids club has nice toys and equipment as well however, the staff working in it are NOT very friendly at all. As a mother trying to get back in shape, I think they would get a bit more business from other moms if they had friendlier staff in the Kids club.
I signed up requesting my payments be taken out toward the end of the month. A few weeks later, a payment was taken out before the due date that I signed up for causing my account to be overdrawn. Sheesh what kind of outfit is this?

I like to spend most of my time burning calories on the various pieces of cardiovascular training equipment. Not that I’m down on building muscle, mind you, but I have a shoulder injury that makes any upper-body strength movements problematic. Anyway, unless you go at the peak times you can usually find treadmills, stair masters, and ellipticals open and ready for you to push your heart rate up.
I think the club is pretty clean. My friend, who goes later than I do, says that things tend to slip later in the day. Maybe that’s not really avoidable when you have more than 100 people in the place at one time. At least the people are nice though and tend to have basic gym etiquette skills like putting weights back when done with them and not sitting on a piece of equipment for, like, 15 minutes while others are waiting.
While I don’t have any kids of my own, I’d have to say that those who do will probably be satisfied with the level of care that they’ll get at the Kids Klub thing. I always seems kids coming out of there with smiles on their fact chanting about what they did with their friends. I think that the moms and dads who work out here must be setting a good example for their kids because I see far less “heavy” kids here than at other places such as the mall.
Last of all, I’d like to say that I really like the people that work here. Most everyone who works here seems to like what they do. Many of them are fit themselves, which you’d think wouldn’t even be in question at a gym, but I assure you…it’s not the norm at other places. There’s a lot of energy being given off by everyone here. Trainers, staff, and other members. Unless something goes really wrong really fast I’ll probably be going to the LA Fitness Mckinney TX for a while.
