LA Fitness Sterling VA

2 Reviews

Merged right into the center of the Dulles Town Center Mall, the Sterling, VA LA Fitness center was purpose built to offer an exceptional workout environment at a very low cost in an area which is known to still be expanding at a phenomenal rate regardless of economic volatility.

While this gym does not offer tanning, it does bring just about everything else you could need or want to get in shape to the table. From weight training to basketball, from group exercise classes to swimming, this gym has it all. The building itself is built on the company’s iconic layout plan which has evolved to be pretty much standard since LA Fitness began to expand outside of the borders of California. Upscale locker room, child watch, and a fully stocked juice bar are all on-site as are the humidity/temperature controlled saunas, spa, and more.

The actual fitness sections of the club are divided up into the swimming pool, the free weight area, the cardiovascular training area, the weight machine zone, racquetball courts, and basketball court. Each of these areas offers specific advantages to building the idea physique and members can take advantage of all of them for the same low fee.

Group exercise classes are also made available and, unlike many other clubs, these classes can be taken up without any additional charge. If you find yourself attending many classes instead of using equipment, this no-cost perk alone may be reason enough to join up at the Sterling LA Fitness. Traditional courses such as yoga, Pilates, and step aerobics make up the core of the classes offered with a mix of cardio dance, spinning, and kickboxing thrown in for fun.

One of the strange things about the club, though, is the fact that it’s located directly across from both the Cheesecake Factory and a bakery! Talk about temptation. If you’re focused on making a change for the better, be sure to steer clear of temptation on these two fronts. Getting started with a LA Fitness Pro Results personal trainer may be the way to go in getting both physical and dietary discipline indoctrinated into your everyday life. The trainers are all professionally certified, but do be aware that they are paid on commission so it’s important to know that going into it. Be sure to show up for your personal training session as well because they do you no good if you pay for them and don’t use them.

DON’T GO DON’T GO DON’T GO. This happened in DULLESS, VA factility

Pleae do yourself a favor and don’t go to LA Fitness ever. This is the worst gym ever. This is the worst service ever. This is the most horrible experience ever.

I went to LA Fitness with my wife and got the most horrible customer service ever. We had been told to give all the personal information without even looking at the club or discussing membership options. We were forced to look at the complete club facility and membership consultant told us that he will not discuss membership options otherwise. We found this very weird but we thought that we will cooperate.

Membership consultant then tried to pull out options for membership – THERE IS NOTHIG ON PAPER, ALL OPTIONS ARE MADE UP. He gave 4 different options, we agreed to each of those but then he told us that each one of those option is not available one after the another. We went round and round and membership consultant was not at all sure about different membership options available and he was talking with his girlffriend on the cellphone which frustrated us. Finally after 1 and half hour of torture, we decided to get out and go.

When we told the consutalnt that we are not happy with the service and we don’t think he knows what he is doing, he got completely furious and started using “F” words all over the place, he was yelling and threatening us and pulling us out of the facility – I Still can’t believe, this can happen!

NIGHTMARE!! 2 people cancelled on the phone in front of us. There were hardly 3-4 people in the club.

    DON’T GO DON’T GO DON’T GO

After being a member for about 5 months, I feel that I can give an accurate account of how this LA Fitness is run. Admission at the door costs about $30 p/month if you leave out (or avoid through negotiation) the joiners fee. This is a really great price for a giant gym that is chock full of new, hi-tech equipment. My previous gym was about the same price and didn’t offer half the stuff I get here. Lifetime Fitness offers about as much as what you get here, but it’s SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive on a month-to-month basis and I can’t even imagine how much money I’d have to spend if I was to buy equipment outright in order to stock my own home-gym. So the price is good.

As you may be able to tell already, I’m not into the exercise classes (though they are free) nor do I frequent the pool very much as I feel pools should be for fun and not for swimming laps. I pretty much do my thing in the free weight area and will do cardio about once a week. Chronic cardio is not a good thing, regardless of what the “experts” may say otherwise.

I’m not really grateful that the placed the gym within line-of-sight of the cheesecake factory. Nothing worse than leaving a gym after a hard workout, feeling tired and slightly hungry, and seeing a calorie farm like that calling to you like some siren luring Odysseus and his men toward the rocks.

Parking isn’t the greatest, especially in the evening when I get there. Sometimes it takes me an unreasonably long while to find a place to park. So that will often kinda get a poor kickoff to my workout that day. On the other hand, the staff at the front desk are so nice that they usually take all the parking lot frustration and make it blow away. Everyone who I’ve come across that works at the check-in station are crazy nice. LA Fitness must have some secret to getting people who do a very boring job to look more than half-alive and provide a great welcome when members walk through the door. These people are real energy givers; the type of people every company would want working for them.
