For those who are not familiar with LA Fitness, you should know that the vast majority of these clubs fall into a category known as “super-gyms”. That is, they go far beyond the traditional weight-room/cardio machine plus locker room paradigm that is very common amongst chains of smaller gyms. Instead, with most LA Fitness locations you’ll find that they are either large, stand-alone structures or large facilities integrated into various shopping centers. The Sugarland TX LA Fitness center falls into this second category.

Unless you are training for a specialized sport such as powerlifting or Olympic weightlifting, it’s just about a sure thing that you’ll be able to achieve your fitness goals as a member of this gym. Multiple options for both strength and cardio training are found on-site as well as a number of auxiliary fitness options which keep the monotony out of your fitness regemine and keep things interesting.

Derek Kravitz ReviewI have a lot of mixed feelings about working out at this gym. There’s both good and bad aspects of being a member here but sometimes the bad things seems to stand out. In general, the gym has a wide variety of things to do which means you never get bored and just stop going because it becomes a monotonous chore, but on the other hand the people who work here have poor attitudes and stuff. If gaining strength, size, and lean muscle is your primary goal then you’ll most likely spend most of your time as a LA Fitness member either amongst the wide variety of free weights or at the selectable isolation machines. The machines offer a fast-start option for those who don’t know how to safely perform free weight routines and don’t have the time to learn how. Free weights allow the body to work as a cohesive biodynamic machine and generally will yield faster results if employed but circuit training on machines tends to be favored at LA Fitness Sugarland because of the ease-of-entry aspect to the training method.

Improving VO2 MAX and overall cardiovascular performance is the main benefit of time spend in the gym’s cardiovascular training center. Here you’ll find treadmills and ellipticals, stairmasters and rowing machines. All of them are equipped with heart-rate monitors which enable you to track your level of exertion and, of course, a calorie expenditure meter is available to help you chart how much energy you’ve burned through during your cardio workout.

As is the case with all LA Fitness centers, this gym offers a variety of group exercise classes which harness the power of inter-personal enthusiasm in order to keep you excited about working out. Classes are included for free unlike at some other super-gym chains.

A basketball court, swimming pool, sauna, whirlpool spa, and regulation racquetball courts are all extra fitness options that are included in the standard membership package. It’s because of the fact that all these options are housed under one roof that we say that most people will have all they need to keep their commitment to themselves to change their bodies (and their lives) for the better.

This gym is disgusting. It’s very poorly managed. Staff does not do anything but sit at their cubicles. Free weights are everywhere, members wear street clothing in gym like a gangster. Too many minors are allowed in the workout areas. All staff members, including manager should be fired. I’m sure that there are a few gyms near me where the people running the place actually care. Time to start looking.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about working out at this gym. There’s both good and bad aspects of being a member here but sometimes the bad things seems to stand out. In general, the gym has a wide variety of things to do which means you never get bored and just stop going because it becomes a monotonous chore, but on the other hand the people who work here have poor attitudes and stuff. If I owned a gym and had these people working for me, I’d give them a specific timeframe in which to improve or just fire them and hire people who have a bit more zest for life.

The gym itself is well equipped, as I mentioned before, but the equipment is getting to be a little bit run down. I see more and more machines down for the count these days than a year or so ago. It seems like it might be a time for a whole-gym upgrade already. I’ve been to a number of gyms over the last 10 years including the Midtown 24 Hour Fitness and the Sugarland TX LA Fitness is the busiest one by far, so I guess that maybe the equipment gets worn down faster than at other places. Of course, the extra traffic means a higher volume of business so they should be able to upgrade machines and stuff on a more frequent basis. It seems to make sense to me.

Equipment can be replaced but I guess they could put that off for a few years if need be. What REALLY needs to be addressed right now is the staff. The people at the desk are anything but interested in their job. They clearly project the fact that they feel that their job is only to scan you in and make sure that the mice don’t carry off anything after their workout. Ask them to do anything and it’s like you’ve asked for them to surrender their right to free speech or something. Seriously. Just ask them to change the TV for you and see what type of reaction you get.

The personal trainers are just as bad. There’s been more than once time when a trainer has tried to muscle me out of a machine I’ve been working on because “they’re a trainer” and have a client that they want to put on the piece of equipment that I’m using. Not good guys, not good. I don’t plan on leaving the Sugarland TX LA Fitness anytime soon because it’s conveniently located directly on my route home from work, but if anything else seems to start going downhill, I might just change my mind.
